If you recall, Bioware made Baldur's Gate and Black Isle made Icewind Dale. BG was very lore heavy and story based while IWD was more focused on the action and gameplay.
Fast-forward. Dragon Age: Origins is lore heavy and story based while Mass Effect is more action and gameplay focused. (That is not to say the story isn't good!)
The stories are good in all the game series.
Anyways that was all. I never noticed the comparison for some reason. Also I was reading through Wiki and came across this. Makes me cry every time I read it.

Closure[edit]
In the years leading to the closure of Black Isle, Interplay's financial difficulties would worsen, leading for the team to cancel anticipated games as Black Isle's Torn and Stonekeep 2: Godmaker, releasing only Icewind Dale II, publishing Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader and developing Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II. On December 8, 2003, in the midst of serious financial difficulties, Interplay laid off the entire Black Isle Studios staff, which also resulted in the cancellation of Baldur's Gate III: The Black Hound, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance III and the original Fallout 3.[6]
If only I had money and could go back in time..
