So my networking knowledge is rather sparse, but ill try and describe whats happening the best I can.

I have my desktop connected to the router in switch port 1. My desktop has no wifi adapter in it at all. When i am connected via ethernet, the name displayed when I mouseover the icon is the name of my 5ghz wifi network. It used to show the name of the 2.4ghz and i was subsequently able to see my Chromecast and cast to it from my desktop. My connection dropped the other night on my desktop and when it came back it had auto configured to the 5ghz network and i can no longer cast to the chromecast. What is going on first off, and how do i configure this setting on my own and force it to display the network of my choosing?

you can click on the 3 little dots on the top right of your google chrome browser and click Cast.
From there u can click on the little arrow beside Cast To, and choose Share your screen: Cast Desktop.

Pretty much. I know how to cast lol, i want to know how/what/why my ethernet connection to my router is displaying my wifi network name on my computer. Also want to know how to change that so i can display my other network that being broadcast.
