Am I the only one praying it's an amazing peice of hardware? I want this thing to compete.

Going to bump this when it releases to revisit, I don't think it will compete but I want it too.

I feel like this happens every amd release...pre release everyone is stoked bc of the potential price for performance...but something somehow gets lost in translation and the end product is comparable/worse than its intel/nvidia counterpart and then eventually becomes somewhat better many driver updates later

I guess this is technically a little different as I haven't been around for an amd CPU release (beyond those ones that scaled rly well with ram -forgot the model) but that's the cycle I've seen for GPUs consistently...

2003-2005-ish was the last time an AMD CPU could compete with Intel. They actually stomped on Intel for a year or two.

I feel like amd has the raw potential but they never execute efficiently

I mean at this point I'm sure consumer tech releases are so far outdated compared to the stuff any high end tech company has cooking in their R&D

AMD has 3 fabs and Intel has 23, last I checked. That may just be a part of it. :)

Yeah honestly the FX series wasn't bad CPU per price point but I'm hoping that we can get a little competition from AMD not to drop intel prices but raise the performance pace

Intel will drop prices or AMD will underperform.

One or the other.

Intel will just push time table forward. So long AMD again probably.

So yep, performance pace should accelerate.
