Ok so i had a Toshiba Qosmio x505 19inch screen laptop
8gb Ram
2 TB hardrive space
i7 something processor...
Some good graphics card i think

And my ex, in a rage, smashed it on floor and the body/screen is f**ed and i think a chip came off board or something cant remembwr (was a while back.. If needed i can take pictures)

My question is, how practical is it to build a computer based on spare parts? How versatile will these parts be in other laptops, considering that im not really looking to rebuild this one as id like something less chunky.

Is it worth it? Im looking to spend 800$ max on a laptop and trying to work this all out

I live in England, London. Any local advice appreciated

if the screen is the only thing that is messed up and the gutties are in tact, you can consider plugging in the laptop VGA/hdmi into a working computer screen and using the computer that way

Well i took it all apart becaude i think one of the chips came off motherboard and so it would always need fixing regardless
Plus i actually want something that can be transported so.. An actual laptop heh.. Before was desktop replacement i barely needed to move it, now my work requires me to

Laptops arent like desktops. You cant really take parts out of them and build other laptops with them. Theyre mass produced and the parts are specifically for that model, you have to either repair it or toss it in the trash.

Things you can 100% salvage.
2.5" hard drives can fit in ANY laptop, even a desktop if you wanted.

Things you might be able to salvage.
Laptop ram can work in other laptops, but ONLY if they share the same Pins/frequency. It's probably not possible to buy a laptop without ram. BUT if you find one with 8GB with same speed/pins you could add 8gb to it, assuming it has an extra spot or 2 to fit the extra ram.

The cpu and gpu are probabley either custom integrated into the motherboard and can't be re-used
