no

if there was tangible proof intel/nvidia/amd sabotaged older hardware with software updates people would actually be up in arms

I don't understand the question.

Are you asking if WE stop using older drivers when the newer cards come out?

Or are you asking if the vid card manufacturers make the newer drivers to sabotage the older hardware and force us to upgrade?

Stop updating what, the drivers? They don't update older drivers...at all.

/e That's why they have driver...versions.

Nono old man.

Op wonders if he should stay on current driver in case manufacturers put something on new drivers (when new generation gpus are out) that may harm current/old generation.

My answer is. Why would they? Their products would be recognized as bad quality

I only update drivers when I learn whether it's stable or not, got tired of nvidia updates breaking games or the system itself. Next gen doesn't play a part in it.

They add "crap" things to the new drivers. Unneeded things. But I don't "think" they harm the old cards. I'm still on 331.82, for the simple reason, they don't have the Geforce experience, the Shadowplay...etc.

And the most graphic intense game you probably play now is minesweeper.
