i listen to everything but 80% of what i listen to is metal/metalcore etc

any recommendations? around $150-200

For that budget I would suggest Sennheiser HD598 even though they are open back. If you must get closed back then I would look for Beyerdynamic DT770.

The Beyerdynamic is a good suggestion. In my opinion, if you're listening to -core music get some Audio-Technica M50x. A little more bass than neutral-sounding headphones, but very good for metalcore and hardcore.

Beyers are more comfortable how ever and they have plenty of bass as well.
