hey,

I just built my pc. Very happy with how it turned out. Heres the problem. I'm trying to install windows from a USB drive, and im getting the following error:

The boot device failed because a required device is inaccessable.

Bad copy of windows on the USB? Is there some issue with win7 that I have to use win 10? Any help appreicated

Is it a usb 3.0 device?
Did you copy files to device or did you use a tool to maker it bootable?
Have you tried the usb ports in teh back of the pc?

Did you properly configure the boot files on the USB? Are you trying to install 7 or 10?

USB sticks are backwards compatible, not forwards compatible. A USB 3.x stick will work in a 2.0 port, but not the reverse.
So if your USB stick is 2.0, then you must use a 2.0 port on your computer. Putting a USB 2.0 stick in a USB 3.x port will not work.

Also you have to use a media creation tool, to make the USB stick bootable.

/e You can't just copy the Win 7 files to a USB stick, you can't "burn" it to a USB stick either. You can "burn" the Win 7 ISO to a DVD though.

You can use a usb 2.0 device in a usb 3.0 port.
You just can't get the usb 3.0 speeds.

Sort of. Some do some don't. I'm not sure it will work before the motherboard drivers are installed.

I don't have a USB 2.0 device to test with. :/
And you know me, I always use DVD to run bootable media.

/e Apparently some folks have issues with a USB 2.0 device in a USB 3.0 port

My USB 3.0 device works in my cases USB 2.0 port...BUT I have the driver installed.

if I remember correctly that was like a small period when 3.0 hit the market which passed long ago
