My rooomate has been having this issue lately where his computer screen will randomly turn black without warning.

It happens when hes playing games or even just wake up to it black screening overnight.

He can still play the game, hear everything thats going on and everything from shooting/pressing abilites works he jsut cant see anything

It used to be he could restart his computer and it would solve it but lately it wont even help.

I have moved ran to different channels/used different ram.

Changed the gfx card to an older model

Swapped power supplies

Changed monitors/used different cords.

None of this has worked.

Not sure if its relvent but when I turn on the tower the keyboard and mouse light up and seem to work but after 1 min they go black.

I had exact same problem a few months ago. It was just a tiny bit of dust in the grfx card slot.
I used a 1/4" artist paintbrush and cut the bristles to 1/2 length...cleaned dust out of vid card slot...all better.

Have you tried cleaning old drivers and applying newest drivers
also hook it up to another monitor and see if that helps.

Mine was just a wee bit of dust. My driver was fine.

However, here is how to do a clean install of your vid card driver:

DDU Instructions - Nvidia
1. Get this program, here: http://www.wagnardmobile.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=144 ...from the "Official Download Here" link, and save it to your desktop.
2. Get your vid card driver here, use the Manual Search: http://www.geforce.com/drivers ...save this to your desktop.
3. Run DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) choose the "Highly Recommend Option", and just do what it tells you. If it wants to go into "Safe Mode", let it.
4. After it's done and comp has rebooted to normal mode, just double click the Nvidia driver to install. If it want's to reboot, let it.

Yeah, I saw that...I assumed he also changed it back.

Even if he didn't change it back...as long as it was Nvidia to Nvidia...he will be fine.

But I should have included driver directions for AMD as well....

DDU Instructions - Nvidia/AMD
1. Get this program, here: http://www.wagnardmobile.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=144 ...from the "Official Download Here" link, and save it to your desktop.
2. Get your vid card driver here, use the Manual Search: Nvidia: http://www.geforce.com/drivers ...or AMD: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download ...save this to your desktop.
3. Run DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) choose: Nvidia or AMD, then choose the "Highly Recommend Option", and just do what it tells you. If it wants to go into "Safe Mode", let it.
4. After it's done and comp has rebooted to normal mode, just double click the Nvidia or AMD driver ( that you saved to your desktop in step #2) ...to install. If it want's to reboot, let it.

So after cleaning it out better, we made a bit of progress but it still will not turn on.
