OK, so here's my current dilemma.

I currently am looking to upgrade my current rig - just buy new everything (already have a case, going to reuse my PSU and my HDD). Below is the link to what I'm planning on getting:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/g2VLpb

Here's my dilemma though. My current PC, I'm noticing a lot of issues. Things won't respond a lot. Windows explorer doesn't respond. I think its my SSD going, but the point is things are starting to go slowly and it's becoming more and more appealing to upgrade.

However, the next gen of Intel will be coming out and IDK if I should go with the newer gen or the older gen. Now I heard the newer gen will be 10% faster, really not a big deal at all considering it won't be noticeable for what I'm going to do which is PC gaming.

Here's my question.

Am I really going to be saving much for these parts? They are pretty much top tier and I'm really just trying to figure out if it's worth waiting for whatever I'm going to save for when the next gen comes out. I'm not familiar with the pricing drops when new gens come out, but is it worth it?

Please let me hear what you guys would do. Would you just say forget it and buy the parts now or wait XYZ amount of months (Does anyone have any idea when the next gen is "suppose" to come out)?

Appreciate any POV's, thanks.

E: I can still game and stuff currently, but just looking to hear other thoughts. Thanks.

Just get what you have on the parts list.

The new stuff won't be out for 2-4 months, and ONLY then will we know whether it was worth the wait.

The only thing I would change is that M2 SSD. You really won't have a need for it, a regular Samsung 850 EVO will be perfectly fine.

Since your current pc is alrdy giving you a hard time, I'd just buy now. Look at the 4690ks and 4790ks, theyre still not even really that cheap. And when new stuff comes out, pricing and availability is usually awful for the first couple months. You might be waiting until like the summer. Is that worth it to save a hundred bucks or 2?

Current specs of the computer:

Processor - 1055t Thuban AMD 6 core 2.8 GHZ
GFX - Radeon 7970
RAM - 8 GB (not sure of speed off the top of my head)
MOBO: Biostar (cant remember model off top of my head)
Case: mid sized nzxt, 0 cable management so kinda annoying)
1TB HD
128 GB SSD
850 W PSU

Haven't done registry cleaning, software cleaning. Been probably a few months since ive cleaned it out. I should do this. No tweaks for it recently.

It's a usable computer. But I don't think the CPU is even on the level of my GPU, so I notice a lot of performance issues with certain games. The RAM is definitely on the lower end of speed.

Good points. Yeah the 4790k on newegg is still $300 dollars. I live near a microcenter and the 6700k is like $274, god damn.

I was comparing benchmarking with GPUs. A GTX 1080 and my current one, radeon 7970. The benchmarking numbers alone was like a 7k number difference. I've never seen a 1080 in action, but it's that much of a monster, huh?

Yeah I built it back in 2010, and upgraded some parts throughout the years. I wasn't very wise at that point, I was super excited to build a PC, but didn't do much research. I feel because of that, it wasn't as good as it could be though it has served me very well the last 6.5 years.

Now that I finally work and am able to, I want to do it right this time around. I'm very excited to upgrade!

OH SWEET!!!! :D

Damn I'm really excited to upgrade now. I'm going to do alittle more research. But you all here have been helping me out the past few days. THANKS ALOT!!!! Don't know if I can say that enough!!!

Going to ponder on it a bit more, but I will probably just go ahead and buy the parts. When it comes along I'll post photos and what not.
