Recently, my dad stepped away from a MacBook Pro 13-inch, and bought himself the Dell XPS 13-inch 2016 version.

I got to compare the two machines. Before he got his XPS 13-inch, I thought that the trackpad would be so-so, and the overall experience would be worse than Mac. I'm a Windows guy on desktop, but I had thought that Windows was still a fairly shit experience on laptops. I was proven wrong. I guess things got stepped up in the recent couple of years.

First, I had no idea that Windows 10 handles three finger and four finger swipe like OS X does. Does it pretty much just as well. That was like the #1 reason I wanted a Mac for a laptop.

Second, the Dell XPS has some really cool stuff:

- its touchpad is insanely good
- its screen is better than the MacBook Pro's, plus it's a touchscreen
- its built quality rivals the MacBook Pro easily in keyboard, case, etc... very good

Overall gotta say that the Dell XPS line owns the shit out of the MacBook line right now. The only downsides are:
- slower SSD by a good margin (Apple always puts crack-fast SSD's in their laptops)
- Windows 10 spies on you too much kind of disturbing even with shit turned off

I'd buy the Dell XPS, but I got the MacBook Pro 2015 13-inch for free. I'm not complaining. Screen is too dim though even at max brightness, by about a 15% margin.

The 2016 MacBook Pro is sexy but overpriced by about $400 Canadian. The Dell XPS is just awesome. Will consider Windows 10 as my OS for laptop when I get a new laptop... but that won't be for a while now.

Shaft is trying to reason with a kid that "found" all these high end parts in dumpsters. Did your dad find the laptop also?

I'd probably go for the 15-inch XPS if I were buying, but my Dad wanted something more compact. He would've been better off with 15-inch, but he'd never realize that. He likes the sleek look of a tiny laptop... he only uses it at home though.

Granted, I don't care for extra power in a laptop really. Gaming on laptops just isn't there yet. Things run too hot still, parts break down faster in a laptop with the heat, etc.

The msi ge62 was running cooler than my desktop when playing. You cant get sleek design like xps 15 and obtain good cooling at the same time. So what you want comes at the expense of something else.

But yeh moneywise, laptops doesnt make nice gaming pcs

2016 dell xps 15 here. These laptops look nice, feel nice, but no. They're not nice. They're plagued with bugs and issues. Last dell I'll ever purchase.
