You will need to flash the BIOS. On ASUS that's easy, you don't even need the CPU or the RAM to flash the BIOS.

/e I own like 6 ASUS motherboards. About 4-5 years ago, ASUS switched to the ASUS CrashFree BIOS 3, which is as I explained above.

All the newer Asus Sabertooth X99 are flashed for Broadwell-E. Didn't have to flash mine.
