I am living in an apartment building and I live on the second floor. I would love to use my wifi wile I'm outside in front of the building so i don't have to eat up my data plan on my cell phone. Currently I can go on the side of the building and use it to a distance of one unit deep but if i go next to the 1st apartment the signal drops.
I have tried moving my router and using different channels but no success.
I don't know the exact distance but I'm guessing its around 600ft or less to the front of the building, but then one story down(maybe 15ft). I know there are wifi extenders that boost the signal but I'm considering my options.
I also don't know how many walls are between me and the front of the building, I'm guessing around 8 walls(they don't seem super thin but NOT thick walls) Any advice would be great. I'm thinking of buying it from a store in my area so i can walk in and return it if it doesn't work and i don't have to worry about return shipping.
Thanks!

yeah gl with this.
routers shoot signals down so your going o have heavy traffic and network congestion no matter what.
second there the 600 feet part with tons of shit between you and the router.

it won't happen. well let me clarify it wont happen unles you drop big ass money or get someone to let you
plug in an extender in their apartment.

You're looking for a high gain directional antenna, and possibly a amplifier.

Due note that communications are two ways. Just because your router can scream louder at your cell phone once it's modified doesn't mean your phone can scream back. If both sides can't hear each other then there is no point.

Hence why long distance links have modified points at both ends.

Either way you're looking at investing some money to do this and there is no way to know if it will work for your situation. Also you probably wont find any of this equipment locally.
