My Dad needs a new laptop. It's for work. He's a lawyer.

He gave me his Macbook Pro 13" 2015 model because he doesn't like it. Lucky me.

Screen size: 13 to 15" (preferably 14 inch)
Resolution: 4k or close to it (must be higher than 1080p)
Battery life: Must have a minimum of 7 hour rated battery life (60wh battery or better, depending on the computer)
Other things: Trackpad should be positioned in the middle & be good, not one of those giant ones because he gets frustrated when he hits the trackpad while typing (he rests his palms down). Touch preferred.

Budget: Up to $2000 Canadian.

The Dell XPS 15 Touch is $2000 Canadian and meets all the requirements. However, it's on the upper-end of the budget, and it's also 15 inch which is slightly bigger than preferred.

Scrap that, he wants 14" ideally, but 13" is fine. Doesn't want 15".

Thinking this: ASUS ZenBookUX305FA

I have a 13" UX32VD and I love it...its about 3 years old now but its still a strong laptop even for that, I7, 10gb ram, kinda lacks on storage with dual 128gb ssds, etc

they have newer models of course, but I can attest to it being a great ultrabook

Razer Blade is prob the best "lightweight" laptop out in the market right now. Only issue is its a bit on the expensive side for the top of the line one. I just got one; like it a lot more than my cousin's MSI and gf's Macbook pro

It's essentially a black macbook pro, but with windows platform and a much stronger video card.

Dell xps 15 is your choice

Look at the monitor to body ratio and compare it to any other laptop. Its dimensions is smaller thsn that of 99% of all 14"

E: Compare it to above asus and razer and be astonished by its screen to body ratio

I mean... it's essentially a black macbook. That seems perfectly professional to me (so long as he doesn't go all chroma'd out on the keyboard). In the end it comes down to screen size: Does he want 13, 14 or 15? Since his initial purchase was a mac, I'm assuming he likes the build aspect of it, coupled with 14 inch size preference; its a no brainer).
