Just yesterday I got a new monitor (Acer Predator XB271HUAbmiprz if that makes any difference - 1440p / gsync / OC'd to 165hz) - I tried playing CSGO on it just to see what it looked like. Game ran fine etc. Once I closed the game however, BOTH of my monitors went completely grey. My system didn't entirely freeze because I could still hear the youtube video I was watching playing in the background, and it even continued onto the next one after it finished. However, nothing would get me out of the grey screens. Ctrl alt del, alt tabbing, alt f4'ing etc.

Since then I've played CSGO and the issue never occured again. I figured it was just a one off weird sort of bug and ignored it. I just tried playing payday 2, and a very similar problem happened. This time it happened when alt-tabbing. No matter what program I tried to tab to, I'd just get the grey screens. I could tab back into the game perfectly fine, but in order to multitask I'd have to close the game entirely and re-open it.

I'm not sure how a monitor can cause this kind of issue, I've never experienced it until the day I connected this. Any ideas? Thanks

Change your desktop refresh rate to 120hz instead of 144hz, Then try the game.

Thanks. I'm not sure if this is what fixed it (didn't get much time to test it out), but I haven't seen it happen yet. Though I can't say for sure now because I just installed a new GPU and clean installed drivers

It's a glitch with a couple games atm, has an issue switching back to 144hz after the game closes & just leaves you with a black screen.

Was just troubleshooting this on dark souls 3 myself, Then saw your thread.
