Ok, so this article says the AMD Zen CPU line will be just as powerful as the current generation of Intel processors. http://www.pcworld.com/article/3109327/hardware/let-the-cpu-wars-begin-amd-shows-its-zen-cpu-can-compete-with-intels-best.html

I am a bit of an AMD fanboy, but there's a pretty great black friday deal from microcenter on an i7 6800K for $329.99.

Too bad Zen is coming out in Q1 2017. I thought it'd be out this November.

Intel is also releasing a new line of CPUs supposedly sometime in Q1 2017.

Anyway, the price point on the Zen CPU probably will be lower, but do you think it can beat $329.99?

Do you actually need the core cores? I'd say wait and just go with the "gaming" centered CPUS 6700k etc.

I need them because they will be useful when I stream on twitch and render video

But what do you mean wait? The 6700K is on sale right now too

edit: might go with the 6700K since the motherboards for lga 1151 socket are cheaper.

How ofter do you "render". A 6700k can stream fine.

Jan-Feb will be new cpus. But it's up to you

About twice a week.

Yea.. I'll do some more research. May go with 6700k cuz of the better motherboard selection

Check out the difference in render times between them. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

It's just more AMD bullpuckey....

The demonstration used the multi-threaded Blender rendering application on two similarly configured PCs. One featured an engineering sample Summit Ridge chip, while the other featured a new Intel Broadwell-E Core i7-6900K CPU. While the Core i7-6900K can run up to 4GHz on some workloads, AMD conducted the test with both CPUs locked at 3GHz

I'm an AMD CPU fan boy. But when you lower the Intel CPU to AMD's clock speed, you prove nothing. A fair comparison would be the Zen running at it's native clock speed, versus the AMD running at it's native clock speed.
After all, BOTH can be overclocked.

Also, as someone mentioned above... big deal a render. What does it do in gaming or raw number crunching.

/e All this test proves is that if both CPU's are clocked the same... they will blend at the same speed. I also noticed, that they still haven't shown actual benchmarks, either.

I will believe it when I see a benchmark.
