Need a book for learning the ins/outs of linux.....
Would really appreciate a good suggestion

also, i'll be using ubuntu, so a book specializing in ubuntu, is always welcome :)


also, i need ag ood book to learn bash scripting






PS: Not looking for tutorials, i prefer more indepth books :)

Google and read the man pages.

You will only learn Linux by using it. Install debian and don't install x11.

If you can use the Linux terminal day to day then you will know how to Linux.

Unless you mean you want to learn Unix philosophy. That's a whole other subject that doesn't have anything to do with using Linux.

If you really want a book book, grab anything geared towards the Linux+ certification. That would present you with a good foundation on all things Linux. It won't help you much in the way of Ubuntu specific GUI's, but it'll give you a basic understanding of what those fancy interfaces are doing in the background. Besides, you can't do bash scripting if you don't know bash!
