Currently running with Asus PB278Q looking to maybe go with a 4K monitor or possibly grabbing something with a nice refresh rate. Willing to go with anything as long as best but carries it, thoughts and feedback appreciated.

if you can power 4k don't and if you don't play fps don't bother with 144hz

I don't play FPS. Not a fan, so no go on 144hz. 4k just isn't there yet in your opinion?

Dota, League, WOW, D3, Divinity, then i randomly buy RPG steam games etc often

If you are not a graphical designer do 165hz 1440p IPS.
Whats up with the "FPS games only take advantage of 144hz".

I see a HUGE difference on main 144hz and secondary 60hz. Scrolling, moving the mouse around. And I've tested games on each of them.

While I completely agree with you... Spending $700~ on a 144hz monitor that you aren't going to fully take advantage of, Is kind of a waste.

Not to mention the requirements to reach 144fps on games @ 1440p, etc.

Fully advantage? Everything but video's would take advantage higher refresh rate.
Its a GTX 1080, in the mentioned games would run high enough fps.

PPI on 1440p is more than sufficient in my mind.

Even TV's getting produced today 120hz, at least mid to high end.

Read about 1/5th of the thread tbh.


Getting a 144hz monitor just for desktop use / light gaming... Is a waste of money IMO.


If you got the extra cash, Why not? But if you're on a budget, There's many other PC items you could get for the $500 144hz premium @ 1440p.

You can't really compare 120hz tv's to monitor 120hz though.. As there really are no TRUE 120hz Tv's. They typically are limited to 60hz input at the most, And just refresh the same frame multiple times.


I'm not saying get a 4k, IMO 1440>4k ATM due to limitation of hardware / 4k content.




Qnix + Vesa mount + 96hz+ overclock for like $350~ is pretty legit though.
