Okay. So the power source gets to the motherboard. It starts the fans, including the one on top of my cpu. BUT the cpu wont power up... This is weird, considering the last time I had it running the temps were fine.

This is a picture of my running temperatures after these problems arose.

The main problem seems to be that the cpu isn't booting up. You know the lights on the motherboard? It red lights the cpu and then never fully starts up. Whenever it gets passed the cpu the gfx card and everything else starts up and I can run it. I tried switching wires.... I tried doing w.e....

My question as to what the problem is? Is my motherboard malfunctioning? My motherboard isnt fully fastened in... it didn't come with enough screws for it. Is this the problem?

I'm honestly thinking about calling in or dropping my computer off at a tech repair place and having them fiddle around with it and figure it out....

Anybody have any suggestions or know the price for something like that?

I'VE DONE EVERYTHING. The only thing I haven't done is taken off the cooler and reapplied thermal paste (it looks like its still in the same spot as it was when I put it on, the paste doesn't decay right?).
I've switched out old wires with new extra ones (this computer setup isn't even a year old).

I don't know what to do. Please help.

Your mobo should be on top of stand offs. If any part of the mobo is touching the case, it could be causing a short.

Make sure of this.

also make sure your CPU cooler is properly fastened in

Take mobo out of your case and assemble it and see if it works.

This sounds like it would be the next step short of having somebody help me fix it... What should I do about not having enough fasteners for my motherboard though? It literally only came with what it has. Should I even bother trying without getting more?

take it out and put the mobo on a book. plug everything in and see if it works. if it does, you know its the standoffs, if it doesnt work, then its not them. If it is them, just buy more from a computer place or online. Or contact the case maker.

also check the backside of the mobo for any black or burnt marks. Could have possibly shorted already.

If def wouldnt have shorted the gfx card, but could have also shorted the CPU & Ram but it probably didnt tbh.

let us know when you assemble it outside the case.

There didn't seem to be any apparent burn marks... or w.e....

Also, do I connect wires from the case tot he motherboard, as if it was fully connected, or only the cpu... also, I forgot what the perfis do B).

Just connect the PSU to the mobo with the gfx card, ram, cpu + cooler attached. You can leave the PSU in the case, but keep the mobo on a book. and obviously connect the HD via SATA to the mobo.

You don't need to connect any periphs, this is to only see if it will boot. make sure gfx card is connected to monitor. press power

make sure the case power button is connected to the header on your mobo tho hehe
