I have had problems with net for quite a while now. I connect via wifi because the router is too far away to run an ethernet cord to. The first wireless adapter i bought was ass and disconnected constantly. I gave it to him when he fixed his desktop and it worked perfectly 100%. His computer is older and maintained poorly. I use Win10 and he uses Win7 though. Every single adapter i've ever bought has not given my consistent internet. Overall it's very solid but will suffer for occasional hiccups. This makes competitive gaming very difficult. Would Win10 be causing this issue? I would doubt it but shit i've been amazed in the past. I've moved rooms and i'm overall closer to the router than my room mate is but i still have problems.

Currently i use this wireless card: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HF8K0O6/?tag=pcpapi-20

I wanted to post here before i try reformating to Windows 7.

I can confirm the card is updated to the newest drivers and is positioned well in my room. There's nothing interfering with the wifi signal that would not also interfere with my roommate.

Running this driver? https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26346/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-and-Drivers-for-Windows-10?product=90141

FYI: It's a Gigabyte card, but it runs the Intel 8260 AC wireless chip, and that driver will work with this card.

Downloaded this. Guess my driver wasn't updated all the way lol. Going to play some rocket league and see how it works. In the case it doesn't ill wait until next payday and buy one of the power line adapters King Atrhur linked.

Edit: on the bright side, my bluetooth works now!

If your house has bad electrical wiring lmk before you buy the power line adapters.
I'll suggest something else.

Is he trying his desktop in your home? Then check your drivers for update or rollback to older drivers.

Is he trying the pla's in your home? Then check your router for new drivers. I doubt it may be bad electricial wiring in this case as stated above.

After about 4 hours of gaming consistently i can confirm the new driver update did nothing to remedy my situation. I'll have to wait and get one of those power line adapters.

i asked my friend who has lived here for quite some time and he told me the house is about 11 years old and it's a very mid-tier build of a house so we assumed the wiring would be sufficient enough for one of those.
