Some people left a tv out by the dumpster with "tv wont turn on" taped on it. So i immediately took it inside. I took off the back and saw no immediate damage. I disconnected the power from the board and put it back and plugged it back in. The light on the bottom center of the screen is now red. However the side panel power button is doing nothing and it didnt have the remote so i am not sure if its the side panel or something more major. I also have no universal remote. Is there a way to force the tv on or test the side panel?

I am going to try and get ahold of a universal remote but i dont wanna buy a replacement remote if the tv doesnt work. I also have no idea who threw it out. I live in an apt. with like 4 buildings.

The tv is a Haier HLC32R1

chances are its fucking toast if it ain't turning on.

Is this a led TV? If so attempt to turn it on and hit the menu button. Then take a flashlight and shine it on the screen. If the backlight is dead you should be able to see the menu with the flashlight.

If the buttons don't work then try shorting the button as mentioned although this may not work on all tvs.
