Long story short,

Computer was working
Went to reset
Did not reset
Threw off Q code bF - For the life of me the description of the error is beyond vague.
Endless cycle of powering off and turning on. Yes fans do work as well as the LEDS + the water pump

Steps I've tried:
Clearing CMOS battery ( Did this 4 times for more than 10 minutes each)
Re-seating the ram in each DIMM slot
Tried bios flashback per how asus does it and the LED will stay stuck on... doesn't flash as it should when it's updating.
Tried power cycling about 50 times.
Checked the power connections about 4 times.

I do not have spare ram to test.

Wow me with your infinite wisdom jsp.

is it really the fault of the whole chipset?

You don't understand how many issues I've had with X99 throughout the time of owning it. If you don't know how to fix or troubleshoot the error at hand then don't post.

ASUS has a estore. They sell the BIOS chips for 14.99.

I had a similar problem with a BIOS flash (as per ASUS tech support directions). They sent me a BIOS chip...free. Best part...the BIOS chips come with the latest BIOS.

/e When you flash an ASUS board....there is some BS about re-naming the BIOS file. The have it on the site with one name, but it needs a shortened version of the name, or it just won't flash properly.

Like for my ASUS board...when you DL the BIOS file...it's named: SABERTOOTH-990FX-R20-ASUS-2901.CAP

...but I would have to rename it: ST990R20.CAP ...for it to work. :/

It gets stuck in the POST sequence. About 45-90 seconds and it'll try it again same issue.

Fans, pump and LEDs all run correctly when it holds the charge. It'll just try to go thru posting sequence and get stuck.

Well you got the renaming right. ??

Yeah, all the ASUS boards I've owned have a non-soldered BIOS chip.
You would have to call them and get 2nd tier tech support. They will probably just send you one for free.

/e Qcode bF has to do with RAM...some folks have gotten past it by pressing the MemOK button.

Some folks say, it's that the RAM voltage is too low, some say it's a fast boot issue...some say it's a X99 sleep issue. Nothing definite though.
