Okay so, I've used windows 10 for about a year now, and I started liking it.... Up until last night anyway.

I turned off windows updates a while ago, and deferred them. For some reason, my pc randomly restarted and it took over 2 hours to install new updates.

Once I logged back in, I tried loading up a game and realized all my graphic settings have been changed. I tried with a few other games and now all my games are screwed.

I fell victim to the black border game screen.

I play a few older games, and I like to run them at 800x600, because the game looks like shit on higher settings. For example, I like to play CoD2 for the zombie servers, but the 800x600 resolution is so tiny, 65% of my monitor is black, while the very middle is a small ass cod2 screen. Before this update, I played in 800x600 mode and it stretched to fit my 22" widescreen monitor and I enjoyed it that way. I've been on multiple websites trying to find a resolution to this problem, but I can't seem to find one.

I watched this youtube video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LM40tTpgH4

I figured I would give it a shot to follow, but I realized at the end that I don't have the exact setting I need!! Now, I'm not sure if I had it before or not.. But it's totally not there after the update I did last night.

Here is my intel graphics settings - http://i.imgur.com/LEFxUM4.jpg

I should have 3 options:
"Center image"
"Scale full screen"
"Maintain aspect ratio"

Unfortunately as you can see in my link, I don't have the "scale full screen" option like I should.

I tried various other things, I have the latest intel graphics driver, I changed my desktop resolution to 800x600 and loaded the game and it's still small af.

I'm really stumped on this, and I haven't been able to find a solution for this problem anywhere.

I'm hoping the great folks at JSP could help me

Sorry for the novel ;)

Windows 10 is fine.
Like 90% of people, you blame the OS for your lack of knowledge on matters.

My lack of knowledge has no effect. Do you realize how difficult it was to install all the CoD's on windows 10? I had to do lots of research and change mad settings for it to work on windows 10 in the first place. But yet I can install ANY game in my collection on windows 7 and not have a single bit of difficulty.

How is that my knowledge?

And btw, you can't run cod2 in window mode.

I stated in my OP that I liked windows 10, I've grown accustom to it, but windows 7 is still the best IMHO.

Who also likes the fact of an automatic updating OS? Do you like updates being forced down your throat?

VMware

Lets run games designed years ago for other operating systems on new shit and not expect difficulties.
Then cry on forums when something goes awry which could of been avoided in the start by handling it right.

k thx bye

Are you just arguing to hear yourself or up your post count? Im not talking about installing something else to make windows 10 easier and/or simplier to run classic games. Im talking about windows 10 and installing games the way it was designed. Windows 10 makes it difficult, that was my point.

This isnt even the point of my thread. I asked for help, you gave an answer which is completely useless since its impossible to do.

Any other suggestions?

How is vmware impossible?
you can run window mode by editing a config/ini file, i know cause i run it on my netbook.
but please do go on.

You're telling me that cod2 will run windowed for sure if ran with VMware?

Because I can change config settings now, but nothing works.

You either know, or you don't.

I know 100% it will without vmware
but if your arguing with my solution I said VMware to use w/e OS it worked on rather then getting confrontational.
but we past that. both work choose which ever you want.
