Hey guys I recently got a 500 gig ssd and am trying to clone over my 250 gig to it.
But whenever I clone, it gives me a 230 gig partition and a 250 gig recovery partition.
I have tried actual cloning as well as back up image and restore image and the result is the same.

If i delete the recovery partition and extend my main partition, windows become corrupt and the disk will become basically non functional. (it will boot and stuff but freeze very shortly and everything will hang, infinitely.)

How do i do this properly? XD
Google has failed me.

Edit I am using acronis since the ssd came with a free key for it, but am open to other disk imaging if you are more savvy in using it and it is free/trial.

I would just use Acronis to make a full OS image backup to your storage drive.
Then use Acronis to make the bootable CD/USB stick, take out the 250GB SSD, and use the bootable CD/USB to restore the backup you just made, but to the new 500GB drive.

So if you can believe it, I was doing it right all along. What ended up happening is Acronis was breaking my PC after cloning. So the solution was merely to uninstall acronis immediately and that solved my issues - meaning my original methods were working fine. It was all acronis's fault. Why Crucial...why?!

Either way, thanks a lot m8 :)

Use clone zilla in future.
always best to shrink partition before cloning.
