i just got a free computer from i think my mom's church? no passwords or nothing so trying to get it in good shape looks pretty good. trying to get everything working finally plugged it into internet and says windows defender wont update? they had a diff anti virus and i uninstalled it. the version of defender looks old as F and when i click check for updates keeps freezing at the same spot for over an hour lol.

doing anything i can to avoid using avg are there any known issues of this or how can i reinstall it?

Most folks use Avast! (free) AV and Malwarebytes (free).

really havnt even heard of it. i really would like one that doesnt consume a lot of resources which is why i heard windows defender was the best bc it was from windows but hey it looks old as fuck and wont update lol looks nothing like the one i have on the other comps.

Well there's Bitdefender an Malwarebytes.

it already has mwb it had like something made by webroot i def needed to uninstall i thought windows defender was the best but hey i guess screw it if it wont work lol

windows 7 home. who knows last time windows def was updated since they had other AV but i really would like to just get that to work lol.
