hey guys, i just built a computer and recently iv been having some ethernet problems. my wifi card works just fine (even though my internet blows)
im just curious if anyone else has had this problem
on startup my ethernet doesnt auto connect. it tries and says unavailable connection, which i looked up and it says my modem isnt giving my computer a designated ip address.
so do you fellas and felladies think that my modem which is shit, just isnt giving the right ip or is my computer just rejecting it? and why wont my isp show up in my network menu while connected to ethernet.

mobo: sabertooth 990fx
os: windows 10 64bit
modem: zyxel c1000z
plan: 75 mbps vdsl2
with a standard cat6 ethernet cord

Pull up a command prompt (Windows key +R, cmd in the open box). Type up configuration. Do you get an address starting 169? If so this means you aren't getting DHCP form your router. First thing to check is another port on the router, unplug and plug the cable back in. If that doesn't fix it try a different cable.

Do that and let me know.

You first need to check if your router is config to send DHCP, Open CMD and type ipconfig and see what IP address you get on "Default Gateway", this is your router, if you don't get it meaning you not even connected to the router.
If he does and you still don't get any internet, try to connect directly to the router ( if you already connect directly then ignore this ).
Open CMD and type ipconfig and see what IP address you got, if it starts in 169 then change ports in your router and try again.
You can also try to type in CMD ipconfig /release and when finished ipconfig /renew

Let me know if its working or not.
