I'm looking around for something that would be good in school, and moderate in gaming, Maybe around Medium on some bigger games @60fps?
I have around $800 to work with, and I can also get College discounts at some locations (Dell/MS/HP etc).
The main specs I'm looking for are a Quad-Core i7 6k Series Processor, a GTX960m GPU, 8GB Ram or Greater, FHD Screen, and Preferred 6-Cell Battery or greater.
The other specs that don't matter as much would be the HDD, Weight, Optic Drive, Keyboard, Webcam, Namebrand.

I'm having a hard time because I can't seem to find too many combos with both a Quad-Core i7 w/ a GTX960m for <$600.
Any suggestions?

look for one with the size screen you want (15.6 or 17.3" or w/e), the correct in/output (usb 3.0, thunderbolt, displayport, shit like that) and keyboard layout

I'm really not sure what you mean by that, If you mean "If they have the same specs (CPU/GPU) then they're the same shit", then yea I know that, Its just hard to find more than one.

nah if they have the same cpu + gpu they all perform the same they just have different looks and minor features like kb layout and i/o

Cooling and batterytime can differ a lot! Also life length and support in case of problems
