I'm looking for another monitor, though. Should I stick with a second Acer XB270HU, or get something else?

I understand the want for matching monitors, But are you going to use the second monitor for gaming also? In which case.. You'd be better off getting a total of 3. And even 2-3 you'll need like quad sli titan's

Didn't really plan on using it for gaming to be honest. Moving the second one that I use now (it's a TV) to a different spot in the room for actual TV use, and then I'll need a second monitor for browser-based stuff, recording hud, etc.

Just get a nice cheap 60hz IPS display, no need to spend too much on a secondary display that you won't be gaming on.

4k or fix the desk

Why not take the budget for another XB270HU, split it, and snag a couple nice secondary / tertiary monitors?
