I keep getting a no post on my alienware m14x R2

ive tried the battery drain method.

The adapter will be green when unplugged from the computer as soon as i plug in the adapter, it almost makes a static noise and the light on the adapter turns off(generic adapter from frys)

My question is do you think the mobo is bad or just a bad solder at the power supply of the computer. Ive tried with and without battery.

Will pay good fg to fix this as it's my work laptop.

tried my other charger(have two of the retrack universal chargers) still have the same static noise when plugged in.(maybe thinking its shorting out)

its not under warranty, so will they even try to help me without charging?

iirc new mobos for these are like 200+

without being there in person to test no one can help you.

ya i figured worth a shot though. Just hate shelling out money for something i already know. On a day off might just tear it down and look at the power button, ac outlet and the mobo itself.

and i just read up on it ,its actually a no power issue and not a no post issue)

if it is a bad mobo, is it worth replacing? or just get something else? Granted this was a free computer from my work.

Got it working. Just jiggled the cable and it turned on..... lmao

Now i get "the plugged in but not charging issue". Gotta love these leet alienwares. (happy i didnt spend money on it)

so obv the charging port is bad. Also isnt the plugged in but not charging a common issue for these comps?

I would never own an alien ware nor recommend one.
so I have no idea how common it is.

Ya they seem to be the red headed step child of the computer world.

Would I ever pay for an alienware? No. Way overpriced. But i got it for free, so beggars cant be choosers.

just wish this had the i7 at least :(
