Hi,

I am experiencing a very frustrating issue with my new PC, in games that should be running like a breeze on this machine (Euro Truck 2, ARK). :wallbash:

The issue is - the games freeze every 10 or 15 seconds, for about 1 second, then they resume normally. This keeps repeating on a random basis, but usually happens once every 10-15 seconds.

My PC has the following specs:

Windows 7 Ultimate, SP1 / DX 11.1

Motherboard Name: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P (2 PCI, 3 PCI-E x1, 2 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR3 DIMM, Audio, Gigabit LAN)
CPU Type: HexaCore AMD FX-6350, 3917 MHz (19.5 x 201)

SSD-Hybrid: WDC WD10 01X06X-00SJVT0 SATA Disk Device (1043 GB)

DIMM1: Kingston HyperX KHX1866C10D3/8G 8 GB DDR3-1866 DDR3 SDRAM
DIMM2: Kingston HyperX KHX1866C10D3/8G 8 GB DDR3-1866 DDR3 SDRAM

Video Adapter Radeon (TM) RX 480 Graphics (8 GB)
Monitor LG 22MP65 [22" LCD] (240785033)

With Euro Truck 2 open at the moment, the: MB is running at 93F North Bridge at 99F CPU at 66F HDD at 79F (low and good temps).

Thanks in advance.

Does the audio stop when it freezes as well?

No one uses F when giving temp readings, try not to even if American.
Have you recently added the gpu? did you use DDU when installing it?
Update all your drivers.

Sorry about the temps, but the they are all looking low/normal in C.

It is a fresh Windows install, along with all the hardware, so no need for DDU.

All drivers are the latest stable ones from the vendors' websites, especially for the RX 480, which is a rather new video card (released 2-3 months ago).

If anyone has come across a similar issue - please let me know what fixed it for you (other than drivers). ARK is behaving a bit better now, no major issues I faced with GTA V as well, although this kind of freeze does happen once in awhile in there too.

by vendor do u mean amd or whoever rebranded the card aka saphire/asus/evga/xfx/gigbyte etc.
If so they are not that latest and you can try the latter or vice versa.

arks known to be buggy as fuck but that truck sim should run fine

No re-brands for the GPU, it is the reference edition that you might have seen on YouTube:

Using it with the HDMI slot.

I am playing a bit of MC Story mode today, and once it freezes, the audio seems to also loop/repeat/or totally blank out for 1-2 seconds, then returns to normal. Temp of the GPU Core is at around 50-75 C stable.

I'm starting to think it's an HDD problem...

I just spent an hour reading about your WD Black2 Hybrid drive.

It seems that Western Digital no longer even sells that drive, which is probably a bad thing.

Is your computer a prebuilt? What is the history of your WD Hybrid drive? Where/when did you get it...etc?

/e Just the fact that you got that WD hybrid drive working properly, shows me that you know what you're doing.
The amount of support calls to WD for that drive, and the fact that they pulled it from their site, tells me that you might be right...it may be the drive.

/ee This is coming from a Western Digital fan boy.

Looping sound is indicative of bad drivers.

If the drive was the issue it would not be isolated to games i'm sure.
While I'll agree those drives had a high failure rate it does not mean his is.
In any case test it with HD Tune if you like.
Run a deep scan and a benchmark. post a screen shot of bench mark and if no errors on scan your good.
