It has plenty of power and it uses a x86 processor which allows you to run many more applications than say an RPI which runs ARM (although ARM software repos for linux have been growing steadily).
It has more than enough power to play emulators, browse the internet and stream media. After all all this can be done on a 333mhz CPU on a PSP handheld.
I was going to custom design a handheld console to rival that of the PSP Vita (since the vitas specs are so poor and is limited to only VITA games since there hasn't been any real exploits for it for running CFW) using this screen:
http://www.chalk-elec.com/?p=1712Since it runs x86, has a decent processor and GPU I could easily run games from NES era up to PS2/PSP era while maintaining a handheld form factor.
The only reason I never attempted it was due to the cost of the parts (it simply was not cost efficient to mass produce a few testing copies for beta testing users) and the battery technology simply wouldn't allow for the play time I was wanting to reach (5+ hours) while maintaining the form factor and weight I wanted.
