Hadn't gotten around to this stuff and recently became funemployed so I have a few hours of the day to do things. I have 3 separate broken computer projects at the moment and wanted some insight prior to disassembly. I'm a total computer noob, though not afraid to take things apart.

1) ASUS i7 quadcore physically damaged.
-If I were to replace the physically damaged motherboard alone (assuming I can find one), would I be able to boot up as normal assuming no other components were damaged?
backstory: A Pally equipped with maxed out resistance gear FOH'd this laptop when he walked in on his sloot sloot'n around with another pally, srs.

2) AMD dual core thing
-MOBO/hardware failure, gets power but won't boot OS. Stays in blackscreen. Attached an external display to it and it's still black screen. Does anyone know how to troubleshoot from here? This laptop was confirmed working in the same physical condition before it stopped working. I turned the computer off and it wouldn't boot back up.
-I got an ex-sloot's noods on it.

3) COMPAQ dual core PC.
-Blackscreen won't boot OS, gets power similarly to #2 above. Would like to use this machine as a dedicated PC->TV machine.

Any advice would be appreciated, in the meantime will be investigating/disassembling!

What are stars? lol.. sorry I'm new-ish to the forum. I was on here 10(?) years ago approximately (not sure if I used a different handle or if this same one got deleted). A friend IRL told me that JSP was still alive and sent me the forum gold, told me to find Pcomb 45s and other junk with it. Being that I'm not that srs into games anymore, I'm actually just here because there's a computer and coding section along with misc./general hahaha

Ur a self-admitting multi who had 20k before his/her first post, u don't know about the star system, yet u use lingo like gold log & mods. I have never met any user on jsp like u before and simply hoped to get to know u better before giving my 100 percent.

Prior to making this account, I made sure I didn't have an existing account. As far as I know, I do not currently have another account which is why I made this one. I'm not new to webforums, I was a mod at a local (Bay Area) CS forum in 2002 and I've been on car/tech forums since 2006 that I'm still active on.

Lol it's ok, skepticism over the interwebz is understandable. I'm just not one to give identities of people, if he wants to chime in, he can.

Just booted up the asus with the harddrive from rig#2. sloot noods ftmfw.
