Apparently the last thread was to spammy so here is a new thread to document how I am better then you all.

Quote
My SDR finally came in. It uses the Realtek RTL2832U interface IC and the Rafael Micro R820T tuner IC. This cheap software defined radio allows me to scan from 25mhz-1700mhz which includes all 40 channels of CB (26.965-27.405mhz) as well as allot of other different bands such as pagers on 900mhz and everything in between including the popular 2 meter and 70 centimeter bands used mostly by trucks/companies and HAM operators.

Since this is USB based, and sets itself up as a virtual sound device, I can do all sorts of things such as decryption of pager messages, relaying higher frequency to lower frequency using a transceiver, recording transmissions, relaying transmissions to the internet, etc.

I'm still waiting for my 1.8-38 volt adjustable linear regulators to come in so I can finish testing some projects.

To further expand, here I am trying to tune to a local radio station to test it. Turns out after I dissected the stock antenna that it's pretty much a piece of copper wire attached to a MCX adapter. Before I go play with this thing I am going to have to buy a BNC to MCX adapter so I can use one of my better scanner antennas.

Some things I will post about using this hardware is how to decode and read pager messages on the 900mhz~ range, how to track airplanes via their radio beacons, and how to listen/decode police transmissions via using UNITrunker to decode trunk channels and DSD to decode digital speech.

Buy a new car duh.

Anyways, time to show off things I stole while I was away.

Here is a HP laptop I stole for 200$ brand new. 3RD generation I5 processor, 6GB ram, 32GB SSD, 500GB HDD, 14.1" form factor or some shit, back lit keys. I'm dual booting Debian PAE with XFCE and Windows 7. The Debian partition is on the 32GB SSD with full disk encryption and the Windows 7 is on a 300GB partition on the HDD. The left over 200GB on the HDD is for mountable space for the Linux partition if I ever need to store a large file.

My AFLA wireless card used for wireless penetration tests (WEP cracking, WPA handshake cracking, wireless man in the middle attacks). I upgraded to this thing from my Linksys WUSB54G adapter and it is by far better. It has way more TX power than my previous card and coupled with my homemade external antennas, I have been able to reach line of sight links for 2-3 blocks in the city. Basically if you see a slick guy with a awesome laptop in a MC Donald's fronting this wireless card, do yourself a favor and don't try to use the internet within a 3 block radius.

Here's a PSP-3000 I got. My original one I got for free had a broken screen so I ordered a new one from amazon, put the old one in the box and told them fuckers I got a broken PSP. Moral of the story is, know how to play the system, get free brand new shit. Also this is a fully hacked PSP loaded with custom firmware, modded ADHOC drivers, custom screenshot/screen recording plugins, and about 100GB of ROMS/ISOS for emulation. I have about 8 micro sd to pro duo adapters loaded with 16GB micro sd cards.

Next up, the Samsung Galaxy Captivate. I got this for free from a friend because he said it was old and slow. When I looked at it it was running android 2.2.1 with touchwiz. Flashed that fucker with android 4.4.2 kitkat and rooted/unlocked it now works like new. Say hello to CM11 on a old ass phone.

Also bought a new medium gaming rig. 700$ for an I5 4th gen build with AMD 270x gpu, modular psu, and some random mid tower case. All other parts were salvaged from previous builds/left over parts. Idles 21C and runs like 50C under prime or something I forgot.

Final thing I got my hands on is a Nexus 5. Buddy got 2 a week after orders went up and offered to sell me one for price + shipping. Got mine almost a month before any of the Canadian phone retailers had their stock and before Google started to ship out the Canadian orders from their warehouse. Pretty snappy phone but one thing Google can never get right is the wifi. Shit doesn't work worth shit just like on the Nexus 4. I need to root it and take a look at the drivers see if there is a quick patch I can make.

Could go on with the list but they are lest significant like flashing ipods with rockbox and selling for a profit and shit.

I'm surprised you knew they were LM317's just by my description of them +1 for you sir.

Anyways I am using them to aid in development on my breadboards. I am creating a wireless mod chip for legacy controllers (NES/SNES/N64) consisting of a ATTiny24A and a Nordic 2.4ghz transceiver. I wanted a reliable way I could adjust my voltage to my boards because I work with quite a few, mainly 5V and 3.3V but this project needs to be built on a 3V platform to run off of 1 cell 3.7v Li-PO batteries.

The mod chip footprint is planned to be smaller than 15mmx28mm and will consist of the SOIC package for the MCU and SMD components.

Think Ghot missed me more then anyone on this forum which is quite creepy. He was the first to pm me and shit.

Anyways going through my 7 desktop towers to scrape for parts before i recycle them. so far pulled out 3x 512mb ddr ram, 2x cd r/w, 1x dvd r/w, 2x wifi cards, 2x NICs, and 2x IDE harddrives (80GB). Still have 4 more to go through, fml.

Nah not interested I have my own stack of 16+ ddr chips sitting around.

Although I did manage to harvest a 160GB WD caviar sata and some DVD R/W drives. Going to clean out and fix up some of my dual core towers in my closet now. I have to drop off a load of 5 towers to the recycling place down the street tomorrow.

Are you etching/milling your own PCBs?

Sounds like a fun project, I'm currently working out some derivative SSTC setups.

I always get distracted in the middle of something though.
