recently got a new monitor and i cannot get the hang of adjusting the settings, i cannot find the right balance of gamma/bright/contrast/sharpness to make it look remotely similar to how it looked on my old monitor

also, im not using an HDMI cable, im using a Display port as my old hdmi cable with the old monitor was absolutely roasted due to being so old. would that make a difference?

any advice greatly appreciated

most annoying thing is when im trying to adjust desktop images/colours etc
il change the gamma/bright/contract and it will look fine, but then on another website it will look too bright or too dark

You probably bought a different type of monitor. Common ones today are TN, IPS, LCD, OLED etc and they all display colors differently. Unless you got a defective model, you'll probably just have to keep playing with the settings until you find something comfortable.

Ah yeah, back then LED & LCD monitors were the main ones being sold. These days a lot of monitors sacrifice quality to get higher refresh rates. If it bothers you a lot, and you have a store like Microcenter around I recommend visiting one to see what works best for you :)
