My pc, albeit old, should no problem running dota. Did the whole run to verify whether it can or not, and it says it meets all requirements

However when I run the game, it is slow as shit and absolutely horrible even with low quality. What gives?

I’d rather not replace my whole pc. Could I just get a new drive and maybe it’ll run smoother? I’m dumb with this so I’ve got no idea

It usually takes double the requirements to run a game smoothly.

What kind of PC/Hardware specs do you have?

It’s old, I’ll throw them up when I get back. It was built back in 2015 and ran dota with zero issues back then. Haven’t played in 4 years or something

I believe Dota 2 moved to Source 2 recently which may have changed some things causing performance issues for you. If you haven't already you should update your GPU drivers to see if it makes a difference

Your GPU seems to be causing the issue. Valve recommends atleast a GTX 1060. The 1060 has triple the VRAM, plus is a lot faster & has more up to date DirectX compatibility than your current card(this is why Dota pre-Source 2 was fine, but they moved the engine to use DX11 which your card doesn’t support fully).

Sadly everything else in your build is pretty outdated too so it’s probably best to invest in a budget build as you’ll probably run into components failing soon anyway

We’ll shit. I haven’t played a game on this thing in years. Decided to play recently. Wasn’t bad at first but it continues to get worse

Might stop playing tomorrow, why I might not even bother

I play Dota 2 on my "work laptop" at maximum configuration and it runs very well at an average of 110-120 fps.

Asus laptop i5 9*
16gb ram ddr4 2400mhz
1tb ssd
Dedicated gpu GTX1650
