I've failed to get the wifi/internet working on this old surface that was given to me. It's been a paperweight for quite a while, but I'd like to use it if I could.
Figured I'd ask here and see if anyone could help with the issue.

Some things I've tried

1: Reformat.
2: Reset wifi adapter, uninstalled and reinstalled driver, did the disable as well to reset driver
3: Turned airplane mode and the wifi on and off several times with going through the windows troubleshooter.
4: Tried to use 2 different usb wifi chips to get access to the internet (Comes up in device manger, but as a ??? device) (Tried to grab the driver from online on another computer and put it on a usb and transfer it over, but it wouldn't read the file)
5: Used a usb to ethernet adapter and that didn't work either.
6: Found recent drivers for the wireless adapter online and tried to install the recent drivers, but the computer wouldn't read the file.
7: I've also tried to find several update files trying to update the system past the initial start up build. (found a few, but wouldn't read them again)
8: Reset my router and did all the connection things with that as well (only thing I didn't do is go into my router network interface and mess around with anything on there) (I had this problem on my old internet provider as well though and then gave up, now I am trying again)

Also the networks show up in the wifi and I can put the password in to try to connect, but then as it's trying to connect it just says (Failed)

I heard it was a particular issue with this network adapter and this surface RT or something, but research said that if I could get connected to internet one time then it would fix everything.

Not sure what else I could try besides trying to install Linux or another operating system on it.
Looking for help or recommendations on what I could possibly do so it's not a paperweight anymore.

if I could just get access to the internet I think I'd be golden.

Specs:

Windows RT 8.1 (2013)
Nvidia Tegra 4 Quad (1.71Ghz)
2gb Ram

Network driver that I'm having problems with is called Marvell, AVASTAR Wireless-N Network Controller.

Either way, thanks for taking the time and any help is greatly appreciated! Thank You!

If it has a USB slot, i'd recommend getting a wifi adapter so it can connect to wifi & download the proper drivers through Windows Update. Edit: Nevermind, saw you tried this already :( Not too familiar with Windows RT but maybe there's a compatibility issue going on with the Wifi adapters.

Other than that i'm not sure. Our company tried rolling these out to a client and we had nothing but issues so we eventually retired them after 1-2 years because of all the headaches they caused.
