Been trying to figure out what's wrong with my Internet why I rubberband in games so hard. I took a test and it says I have bufferbloat. I have a nighthawk router, and it suggest I change all kind of settings I just don't know anything about it.
If anyones interested in helping I'd pay them, idk anything. I just reset it with a pin on the back.

I have 980 down 55 up speeds.
My wifi has 2 signals ( 2.4 ghz 5ghz )
I went in to the router settings and set the speeds of the wifi ( 54 / 268 / 600 mbps ) to 54mbps
I enabled QoS in my router and set the speeds to - Down 200 up 30

Not really sure what im doing at all, any advice appreciated thanks.

Reset back to factory settings, it’s likely not even bufferbloat. Which model nighthawk do you have?

you want your up speed as high as you can get. Contrary to popular believe it is up speed that causes lag because of the sequence the packets are computed in online games.

Put your up speed back to maximum. Your speeds are all fine, dont limit that.

If it is bufferbloat that means you have too many devices connected. I would try finding old tablets televisions you dont use or anything that is using wifi and get rid of anything that doesnt need it. Do you have 50 wifi power outlets in your house?

Your ISP should have an app you can download that lets you see all the shit connected to your modem, or the same for your router. If nothing else you could look at that list and remove some shit that you dont need all the time.

Otherwise your router is garbo and you need a new one, or your ISP is fucking you either with a shitty modem or they are limiting your service. Call the ISP after nothing else works and demand a new modem and also demand they check the circuit coming into the building to ensure the signal is correct. I have literally had a situation where the cable coming into the apartment building I was in was brinigng too much juice, yes too much. So they needed to replace the entire cable line leading up to the building.. I moved away before they finished that work so. Might be SOL if thats the case.

Modems definitely can die, id request a replacement before you dive into getting new cable laid

try cable only, see if the problem persists. if not, then it's the shitty wifi

You can also edit or tweak bandwidth allocation in router/modem settings, turning off prioty access to any given device helps with this. Other than that yes to many devices. Upload speed should always be above 10 for normal day to day and streaming, id say 20+ is perfect for gaming and others. Packet loss will be an issue for up speed coming and going.
