:o
so maybe also your usb 3.0 thing with win8 also could be affected , in that win8 thread you posted.

quite possibly...ever since day one...this board has been a little weird ....didn't wanna risk flashing the BIOS for the 4170...so just had them send me a pre-flashed BIOS chip...and then a 2nd one as well...neither worked in my board lol

/edit Not to mention AMD mobo drivers....SUXXORS compared to the no longer available nVidia chipset drivers :/

/ee Just call me Canadian_Man 2013 lol

/eee Early in 2012 he had similar problems with the pre - B3 revision P68 ? chipsets. 3 Months of RMAs until he got all good parts lol

/edit, edit ...even if this whole comp dies...I still got XP on an Athlon 5000+, OC'd to 3.2Ghz....and I could always just slap the 955 build back in this case...until things get worked out :/

I think that's for vid cards bro....I'm talking mobo drivers...even the ASUS website doesn't have newer drivers ^^

/e Guess they have chipset drivers there too

Well....major change of plans....

ASUS approved my Advanced RMA request (where they send 1st)....but like so many other companies these days...they only replace with refurbished.....On a motherboard that's 2, 3, 4 years old, that's understandable....on a brand new 6 month old board, that's a joke !@!

SO...I just ordered a 2nd ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 board, when it arrives and assuming it works fine...THEN I'll just do a regular RMA with the current faulty one....at least that way, I'll have a spare...should any problems arise.

The reason: When you do an Advanced RMA....they put a hold on your credit card for the cost of the board, which they refund when they receive the bad board....only problem is that if it get damaged when I ship bad board to them...I lose the cost of the board...and all for a refurbished board :/
Since this really IS going to be my last upgrade I figure it's best to just swallow the cost of a 2nd board, and by doing so, have my OWN spare, should the need arise.

After talking to ASUS again today....they said the HDD problem maybe caused by the motherboard too...aka the SB :/

....and w/e is causing the issue...that already killed on 1TB HDD was doing the same to my OS Velociraptor....ran chkdsk /r last night on the Velociraptor, never seen so many errors :/

Restored from a pre RAM issue time...and all is well again....good thing I got so many backups ^^

A working refurbished mobo...prolly was bench tested for 24-48 hours....not good...for a mobo going in a comp that's gonna run 24/7 ^^

/e ..and they will still RMA the bad board once I get the new one from Newegg

/ee Plus the fact that IF I do their RMA, I have two choices...regular RMA...prolly take 2 weeks plus or...the ASdvanced RMA where they send first...but only IF I let them hold approx $200 on my credit card..till they reciieve the bad one....if the UPS guy decides to take out his frustrations on my boxed up bad board, and it gets damaged in ANY way...I lose the $200 and end up with ONE Sabertooth....at least this way...I SPEND $188 on a NEW Sabertooth...AND can still RMA the other....to sell, use as a spare...w/e....just seemed like a better gamble to me ^^

/eee Also in the future...if I ever have any other problems...I'll always be able to do the regular RMA, and still have no down time, cause I have a spare.
