A Mac Pro 1,1 - 3,1 would do exactly what you want just fine and can be had for as little as $100. Drop in a few SSD in raid and you should do fine. Get a 3,1 if you want OS Sierra usability, 8 core, 32+gb ecc ram (CHEAP), r9 280x etc.

I can edit go pro 4k footage with ease on a 1,1 with El Cap, 3ghz 8core 64gb ram r9 280x.

Thanks for answer but that was a bit too complicated for me. Can you translate that please? :)

Edit: And please stop posting if you don't have some tips for me!! :(

Incendiary answered your question in post #3.

Get the best one you can afford.

/e As for what it can "edit", I'm sure Apple has a forum somewhere.

Or someone else should actually use it  normal work: browser, coding, email, terminals I easily get 12 hours.

why would that matter? Should I tell you what kind of underwear I buy too?

But if you insist: nexus 7 tablet and nexus 5x phone.

You're just very ignorant. All you care about is GHz and number of cores, which is 100% pointless outside of games. 1) mac is not for gaming, 2) laptops are not for gaming

http://laptops.specout.com/l/7181/N240JU just some review and another one that said 2 hours but can't find now. I couldn't find any official data either

Please tell me how more cores are useless outside of gsmsing

Not saying they are useless, but if all he cares about is number of cores and their clock, completely ignoring form factor, weight, screen quality, disk, battery life etc then he's just ignorant and silly. If he wants a 15" with powerful cpu and gpu and no battery life then he needs desktop, not laptop anyway. + there are far more factors even when it comes to CPU. My old lenovo has i7, 4 cores + HT, and it's clocked slightly higher than mbp, but still perform worse than this i5. Because different year model etc. But hurr durr more cores = better amiright guys?

tl;dr of last over9000 pages: I say the laptops are not overpriced, I say they are priced exactly like the competition. He says they are overpriced but can't provide a single model to back his claim. What is overpriced is upgrades eg $500 for extra ram? Bullshit. But whole thing? Take a look at prices of ms surface pro, hp probooks, dell xps developer edition and some more. They cost the same money, sometimes even more. Is it more expensive than some shitty acer with much more powerful cpu, but also with plastic case, 1366x768 screen and spinning HDD and 2 hour battery life? Sure. But is it more expensive than similar laptops? No. And I still encourage anyone to prove me wrong :)

did you even read what I wrote :wallbash: "everyone knows this" is a bullshit. Back your claim with facts not hearsay.

Show me laptop with 12 hours battery life, i5, NVME SSD and fullhd+ display for much less than mbp cost (1300). One guy found one, for $1200 that would cost closer to $1500 when imported to EU. And we still ignore the trackpad quality, build quality, unibody etc. Surely you can find one right away? If you can't do that, I won't bother arguing again.
