I think the only reason SLI has sort of fallen off in appeal, is that no one is writing any games/programs that actually need that much video horsepower.

Can it play Crysis? Last I heard, even the 1080 Ti had some difficulty with the original Crysis.

seems to be working here not the greatest scaling but when you look at it still being used

Oh, I'm not saying SLI doesn't work. I'm saying that the devs aren't really turning anything out that could profit by it. They're lazy, money grubbing scum. If they can sell a cartoon game, with DLC, why should they ever go to the trouble of making a game with some serious graphics.


/e Crysis was like a fractal demonstration. No matter how high you turned up the grfx power, there was always MORE to be revealed.

gaming isnt about graphics though its about a playable experience which sometimes have graphics involved

Well, yeah, but we were discussing SLI not quality of the story etc. :)

/e IMO, the story quality has been absent for a while. And story, experience, and grfx, all in the same game, seems to be non-existent anymore.




/e I remember with fondness and a certain longing, the days when buying a game was a major production. Hours, days, had to be spent researching things like... did the game has enough content, great story line, difficulty, killer grfx, etc., and only then would the purchase be considered at all.

These days, it seems that there are folks who will buy w/e some company waves in front of their face. Things are so cheap and cheaply mass produced, and available, that we don't NEED to be as particular. Tjhis ofc, let's the devs get lazy, and just turn out half ass crap.

what many games are graphically great looking and great story and all that but you dont play games anymore so what do you know

I think the prices will change heavily after the first couple months.

That's because the jump to Pascal was bigger than I think the jump to Turing will be for gaming specific performance.

he said that the 2080ti gets 78fps on infiltrator demo compared to 30fps on 1080ti
so.... guess its the waiting game

Yeah at like one task processing reflections or something.
It was the same bullshit with pascal.

It's 3584 cuda cores at 1582MHz 1080 TI vs 4352 cuda cores at 1545MHz 2080 TI.
Same amount of VRAM through new type which is 3Gbps faster.

When we talk pure gaming maybe 25% increase in performance.
