Telling you to do something is a death threat?

Simon says must be a mass murderer.

Pic is from 980ti not reg 980 though.

The bios bypasses the standard power limits of Pci-e slot + 6/8pin

980 ti has like 40% more transistors and has a much bigger chip with more vram a wider memory bus etc.. i could see it consuming 375w easily. What I can't see is a 980 with its smaller gm204 chip doing the same. All I have to go off of is your word on the matter.

Maybe the evidence is in the link but those posts are intolerably obnoxious, animated gifs and stock photos from Microsoft word every other line and randomly changing text colors and sizes, emotes all over the place, it looks like a 3rd grade art project gone wrong. Or like my old forum I made when i was 12yo http://z11.invisionfree.com/Darksource_Reborn/index.php

It used to be better organized, Back when I was using it.

There used to be a shit ton of info on it, Idk where it went in that jumble.

375w wasnt a typical load, But there were cases of them drawing 375w (Max ofc) from a single 980.

I had pretty damn good 980s, Could easily push them to 1600 on that bios without increasing the voltage anymore.

So i was thinking of i get the optiplex 990, 4gb ddr3 ram, 500w psu, 950ti low profile

If I find I want to upgrade next year a bit more with something like this

https://www.amazon.com/ASRock-B250M-HDV-Motherboard/dp/B01N9BY912/ref=sr_1_1?tag=geo02a9-20&s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1496513319&sr=1-1&keywords=b250m+hdv

Question is, if I do upgrade in the future would I have to re buy the cpu cooling stuff or are most able to be transferred over to a new build? I figured I would be able to salvage the 500w psu & video card while having options to upgrade to a full size card down the road & support ddr4 along with a newer cpu

Most aftermarket coolers come with connectors to attach them to amd/intel across multiple socket styles.

At the worst, You'd just have to buy a hardware kit to swap it. Which usually isn't much.

Sweet!

Might search around a price check how much a build would be so I could support a full size card using that motherboard :) looked around a bit & it seems like I could build for Just over 100.00 & have enough for a 1050 :)

Pieced it together for 190.00 (with a used i5 processor 3rd gen)

Might be able to afford it along with a 1050 to throw in it :)

well first 4gb is pretty destitute, 8gb is minimum imo, and the 950 ti doesn't exist.

Anyway they make some skylake ddr3 mobos if you want to use the ddr3 but it is inadvisable imo, those cpu's aren't meant for ddr3 voltages

A friend has extra ddr3 ram (4gb) I can have for free since he has no need for it. I guess it would be better to go with the optiplex & a low profile graphics card then purchase parts throughout the year when I find nice deals to start building my own

Think something like this would be decent to build up to on such a low budget?

So I should have around 350.00 if all goes as planned, i pick out my Christmas presents so I can probably get ram & psu during Christmas time, if I go with ddr4 ram will that increase power consumption?

Going to piece together something I might aim for just so I can go with a full size gpu & not have to re buy everything next year when I upgrade :)
