How are you transferring the files?
If you're using filezilla, it takes cpu cycles to encrypt/decrypt, making the transfers suffer sometimes.  But over 100mbit connection I was getting a solid 12.5mb/s on a 3ghz athlon x2.
When on gigabit network I can only get like a 240mbit because my cpu can't process fast enough for filezilla; but through samba I get about 720mbit throughput.


Well, my main computer is on a Cat5 ethernet cable, connected to my Linksys WRT160N router which caps off at 100mbit.

Work log: final day -

So despite my new sickness (I think I have the flu or something) I have built up the effort to finish this once and for all.

Server is in my closet next to the printer, and it looks very nice. With the closet door closed I can't even hear it. Just wait until I get the quiet fans... it will be a ninja.
This will probably be the last post about this, it's finally finish and I can rest!


So this is a screenshot with "Computer" open, and then a second window with the "//SERVER (R:)" in explore mode. Lot's of free space. (...AND YES I DID CHANGE MY DESKTOP BACKGROUND!)





Someone had mentioned that my room would be messy after a week (in my other thread), I will prove them wrong (sorry for fuzzy, forgot to turn on flash):

Not a threat, a fact. Stop posting in my topics.

/edit: And please explain the harm/threat in writing a letter? I am a concerned citizen, I would do it in YOUR best interests... getting her to pay more attention to you.

Child neglect is no laughing matter, she should be disciplining you rather then letting you abuse your access to the internet.
