Ordered a 480gb pny ssd and a steam link off amazon at the beginning of january since they were both on sale. Because the steam link was out of stock, they didn't ship til like the 20th. Got them on like the 22nd. SSD was great, fresh windows 10 install everything running smooth for about a week and then non stop system lock ups, ended up returning it for a refund. Steam link is great and you can't beat the 20 dollar price tag on it.

Fast forward to this week, got the refund on the 480 gb ssd, and with that refund, managed to snag some extra sata 3 cables just for the hell of it and a Mushkin REACTOR 500GB for the same price I paid for the pny. Should be here saturday or sunday, hopefully that drive won't crap out on me.

Mushkin is definitely better than PNY, as far as SSDs go. :)

why the reactor and not the eco?
eco out performs it and its only 20gb less.

just curious tbh. I grabbed the eco 480 and received it like 2 days ago.

reactor was cheaper, talking 119.99 vs 149.99.

Amazon prices are fickle with their auto pricing algorithm. Sometimes it's a deal, sometimes it's priced higher than newegg. Almost scored a samsung evo 850 500 gb for 129.99, but I missed it by a day.

I don't think you will really notice the speed difference. Unless you're timing the boot or game load screens. :)

The difference is in write speeds and iops.
Since mines mainly a steam/origin drive I wanted the writes to be equally as fast as reads cause I'll be installing large games to it
constantly when doing a game night with guild. we frequently buy 4 play games and go ham and get loaded.

Though the eco is 6-7 dollars cheaper here vs the reactor meaning its pointless to buy the reactors.
I don't particular check amazon as they don't take paypal so idk what their pricing is.
Did check ncix and canada computers and both either were more or just didn't have mushkin.

The Samsung would've been the best choice, but you know that. :)
