No because I already have a sound card

But I have to crank the volume all the way up just to be able to hear anything

You can sell yours and buy a sound card with built in amp are those 300ohm headphones?

For games and music you will want the creative sound blaster X-FI titanium HD 300ohm headphone amp

For mainly music you will want the asus xonar essence which has a 600ohm headphone amp.

Otherwise look here for external amps.

my o2, fiio, zxr does fine, havent tried the recon3d

Go for bigdick status & grab an o2. Then down the road pair it with an odac.
