the amd brackets for my respire t40 apparently don't orient for the front to back i would have rather done, but overall i'm pretty impressed with it for 30-35$. the intel brackets can do either orientation but nowhere in the instructions did it show f2b for amd :c
even youtube and google turned up no results for mounting the t40 on amd sockets. which was annoying, especially considering one of the parts (4 'rubber' (not actually rubber) spacers had notches and i didn't know if they were supposed to go a certain way) was entirely different from what the documentation showed

but temperatures aren't a big worry, it's pretty chilly with how cool washington is pretty much all the time
max temp with my bedroom door open is usually 55c because all i play is league/osu!

i plan on getting another 140mm fan for the top, and then maybe a 120mm for the bottom if i move my hdd's up one or two slots each, just so i can get maximum airflow out of my case.

and thanks! :p i tried my best managing a non-modular psu, worked out pretty well, hiding my ssd behind the motherboard panel as well as every last cable i don't need.
tried going for a minimalistic look, which the xfx 290 will help achieve, and maybe i'll end up removing the side sticker from my psu, but i'll see about that later.
unfortunately my cm sickleflow fan i have on the side panel has red led's i can't be bothered to remove -_- but i think i did a good job so far

i love the cm sickleflo's, those are what i use in my Lian Li. they do have non-LED ones available on newegg, should be the same exact ( 69 cfm 19 dbA ).

The ventilation area on the bottom of the case isn't very good, so I figured it pulling from the top to blow out was a better option. The label of my PSU being upside down would drive me crazy.

well, looks good bro :)
be careful with those stock Nzxt fans, i've broken every Nzxt fan i've ever used ( about five i think ) when trying to clean them because the blades are so fraile.

Yeah, they are kinda shitty fans. They aren't too loud, but the build quality on them definitely isn't great. I wanted to build this thing on a pretty strict budget (I spent less than the cost of the XBONE on everything but the SSD, hard drives and PSU. That stuff came from an old project) and the case was the nicest one I could find that kept me under budget. Once those fans go I'll replace them with something nicer. The PC is really just there to run VMs for development and to play games on. Any serious work and programming is done on the Air. The server's purpose is for high-speed, shared network storage and to run torrents/usenet, plex media server for my 2 TVs and sickbeard/couchpotato and crashplan.

I'm thinking about making a little HTPC because we never bother to look through our blu rays lol. would be nice to get them all on a pc with wireless mouse, and run out surround sound off a sound card. is it common to lose quality when putting movies into hard drive? i know i would need something to get around the copyrights ofc.

Any time you are ripping and encoding Blu-rays you are going to lose a little quality unless you are taking rips of the whole disc. Honestly you won't notice the difference between a high-quality encode and a raw rip of a blu-ray, especially when each raw rip will take 25-50GB each. As far as HTPCs are concerned, I got out of the dedicated HTPC game long ago. If you have more than one TV, I highly recommend using client machines like Roku/AppleTV/Fire TV/etc with a good, dedicated storage and streaming server. I currently use Plex Server with the Roku front ends for Plex. It works great.
