holy balls those shots look... LOL

try not to use flash either unless you have to, it washes out reflective surfaces

in low light :

open up the aperture first then slow the shutter speed and mix iso in there as you play with it, if you have stead hands 1/15 shouldnt be a problem but do 1/30 if  you have non steady.

higher iso give you more light but it also creates more noise.

ALSO shoot in raw or raw + jpeg. raw give you a lot of post editing control and can fix any shot that too dark/ light etc

told him this in pm when he pmed me lol.

he should just shoot in jpg tbh hes not using this camera for anything that requires raw edits.

@ghot: do you remember anything about aperture/shutter speed/iso? if so shoot AV mode and set your iso and aperture be hand. just remember to use the lowest ISO you can for your lighting condition because the higher it is the more grainy the pictures will look.

also for the automatic focus there should be a button labeled something like  http://i.imgur.com/tngtO6f.png (or maybe its a cross i forgot) up by your index finger somewhere if you hold that and use the dial you can actually set the camera to focus on a specific point rather then "where ever the camera feels like focusing".

also yea i just use the canon software although its junk. you plug it into your computer and turn the cannon on then you click on the file folder in the software and it opens up. alternatively you can just take the sd card out and put it into a card reader which is faster imo.

if you want i can take a crappy phone video of my t2i and show you around the camera with the basic functions and stuff.

Yeah folks I know all that...wasn't trying for anything other than to just get it to take a pic and get it on my comp. Which I obviously succeded at...Yes I know the pics suck...Yes I know how to avoid the flash with various, aperture, ISO and shutter speed settings etc., what I don't know are things like this:

1. Do I have to remove the lens when I'm NOT using the camera?
2. I don't YET know how to make the camera do anything but auto...and I won't for weeks, I'm sure.
3. I DO know how to take fantastic pics...w/e I figure out how to just get the camera to do what I want...it's controls or GUI are redundent, overlap one another, and use an entirely new vocabulary than what we used back in the day.
4. Even to take those pics above took me about an hour or so...with the manual open to like three pages and the "rest of the manual...on CD" open on desktop. The manual itself is like for this, see page so and so..or even see the .pdf on the CD for MORE information.

Please try to remember, I have a dumb phone, I can't even handle XboX or PS3 controllers, I have large hands, and everything on this camera is tiny...except the camera itself. Think of like a D pad on smart phones and controllers...etc., I've never been very good with them...even on my Cricket dumb phone...when using the D pad or w/e we call it these days...I constantly bump the other buttons that are close by. Same with the camera...which then involves another 20 mins of instruction manual roulette, till I can get it back to the defaults lol

I'll get it...and I'll get good at it, but it's not gonna happen soon. Like I mentioned above I got a lot of things to do in the coming weeks...like with the comp desk...the comp wiring etc., that takes most of my time.

Her's sorta what the manual is like....

You want to do "this" ...read here on page 52, but wait, that's only the beginning, for the real info you want...see page 327, and once you're there....again...blah, blah, blah....but wait...for ALL of the info on the item you wanted to do way back on page 57...see the 17MB .pdf document that came on the CD. THAT's what's taking me so long with this...I'm always afraid of setting something incorrectly and having to go through 2-10 more pages and .pdf files to get back to where I wanted to be.

Things I DO know about this camera and photography:

1. Higher ISO, lower f/stop (aperture), and slower shutter speed for low light.
2. Higher ISO creates grainier pics.
3. I know how to focus this thing...it's just that with my horrible vision and bifocals...the view finder is like an acid trip :)
4. I know how to use shutter speed and f/stop to change "depth of field"
5. I KNOW learning how to make the camera, do exactly what I want...is gonna take months...I don't even have camera phone experience lol
6. I don't KNOW for sure yet, but I'm pretty sure auto focus, even when done properly..is no substitute for manual focus.

So for right now be happy for me, that I've at LEAST managed to take pics and get them on my comp. Currently, I a LOT more concerned with....

The computer desk and it's necessary mods, moving furniture around so everything fits, and I still get the benefit of cold air or A/C cooling...THEN...completely taking apart comp, cleaning everything like new, and then re-doing all the wiring...aka fan splitter blocks, shrink tubing the rainbow colored case front panel wires...etc etc...and all this is ofc dependent of when things arive...aka the zip ties that must be coming by YAK from Hong Kong.

Note the three RED dots in this pic....

1. Bottom of bed (near the comp desk) has to be rotated 90 degrees to the left so new comp desk will fit.
2. The RED dot where is says comp..cannot be moved...ever.
3. The RED dot above the coffee table, currently has a 2nd recliner that needs to go...but it's too nice to just toss.
4. Most importantly, notice all the doors and windows...there are only so many possible ways to re-arrange the furniture...as it is the new comp desk will block about...the right 16 inches of the top left window.
5. At the same time I'm trying to do all this...( I live alone)...I have to keep cooking and cleaning for my self as well....and some of the furniture is just too heavy to move w/o help...well not too heavy...but heavy enough that it will tear this zillion year old carpet.
6. Have to be awake...and dressed for all these deliveries that come in no apparent order.

In the last two weeks I've spent more time with just a tape measure...which I had to go buy...than with anything else. Due to the size of the monitor and the fact that the comp itself can NOT be moved at all...even buying the comp desk and Hutch was a major project. On top of everything else, I have no car...so any last minute, "oops I forgot to get"...w/e...involves me finding a ride, or worse, having to order offline.

Add to all that, the fact that becoz they were out of stock for so long...the GTX 680 won't be here till Wed or Thursday...so I need to wait for that too....AND considering that I just started ALL of this on Friday the 22nd of Feb...I think I'm doing pretty good :)

/edit Thanks though for all the suggestions....but know that I will ask, (have no compunctions about asking), when I need some piece of info, and more importantly ...WHEN I can fit the question and answer into everything else :)

/ee Almost forgot...there is also a giant hutch, armoire, china cabinet....w/e...right where it says, in the pic... "Major Air Flow" .....AND while all the stuff above is going on...I'm also trying to get a whole new set of clothes...as the ones I have are getting pretty worn out lol

Hi there Ghot. I like your build, but I literally have the 965 and the 8350 in 2 different pc's and I suggest if you think you have ANY game/program that might benefit from a stronger processor to get it. To make up for the budget on the processor, you could probably get a bit of a cheaper mobo. I use asrock 990fx extreme3 and get a moderate OC to 4.5ghz on 8 cores. The mobo cant handle much more, but it is plenty quicker than my 965, almost double performance on a bunch of benchmarks that allow for multithreading.

Anyways, you could always probably upgrade later with that sabertooth. I have heard they are overprice/overrated, but at the same time everyone who actually owns it has nothing but good things to say. Wish I had one to make a suggestion.

As for me, owning the 8350, I want a strongr mobo to get an even better OC. I play wow and it just benefits so well from a strong processor. I can't tell if I'm going to get a Gigabyte 990fx ud3, or just make the expensive but powerful switch to intel.

Overall I would give your build about an 90% efficiency for price/power with my only suggestions if you don't need a strong as hell cpu to just get a weaker mobo. shit son, for the 965 I wouldnt put it on a board more than 119.

CHEERS! GOOD LUCK!

Bro...comp is already built...cept for vid card and final Wiring cleanup...and has been for about 4 years ever the since the 1st CPU I had in this build, was the 955...then I went to the 4170, which was a dog....now the 8350...which is awesome.

Comps and comp issues are NOT the problem...time and space to locate everything are the problem :)

/e and btw,, the ASUS Sabertooth 990FX r2.0 is an awesome board...just saw one in the alley last night...taking a Gigabytes and and ASRock's lunch money ^^
