Not really. a 22-360pF variable air capacitor is like 40-60$ for a cheap Taiwan one. Then a 80-480/90-1100pF is 140-160$

Even tiny 8-50pF variable air caps are like 40$ from the US.

Basically I can probably but some scrap sheet aluminum, brass or aluminum nuts/ready-rod/washers, and make my own for less. I can pretty accurately cut them with a zip disk and a template.
