If the battery is removable, removing it just saves the battery life. It prevents it from constantly cycling through charging and depletion. A constant charging state on a Lithium Ion battery depletes the cells and wears the battery out a lot faster than from normal use. If the battery is internal, there's nothing you can do about it.
