You can cancel before the fee comes up or request them to step the card down to a non-annual fee version. Sometimes they'll waive it for you even after the first year, but you have to spend enough to make it worthwhile for them to retain you as a preferred customer.
You can churn Chase cards every 24 months for promotions fyi unlike AMEX that allows you to get the promotion once in a lifetime.
