Well enjoy your debt. Credit cards are useless and pointless. If you don't have the money you probably shouldn't buy it.

Credit is useful if you ever plan on buying a home, financing large purchases, etc.

And obviously if you don't have the money, you shouldn't buy it. Just because I have such a high credit limit doesn't mean I plan to max it out...

I never said credit wasn't useful, I said credit cards are not. You don't need a credit card to get good credit mate. :P You can also raise your credit by making payments on time, paying bills on time, etc.

Here are a few neat and safe ways!

Credit cards make it easier to build good credit though. And they have useful benefits attached to them too... iirc Visa Signature cards have some kind of price protection linked so if something you bought becomes cheaper within a specific time frame, you can apply to be reimbursed for the difference. A bunch of them also extend the warranty of purchases that you make.

Credit cards make it easier to go into debt. It is very easy to say: "Oh I will just purchase X on my credit card and pay X off at the end of the month." Then something comes up and you must pay the minimum. "Well I can pay it off next month." Or you accrue some debt and plan to pay it off with your tax refund. Well you just lost your job. Or my favorite example is using a credit card to pay for an emergency and it never gets paid off. You can just as easily raise your credit by paying your bills on time. It all goes to the same place. Credit cards are not needed to raise your credit score.

I had a credit card once. 10,000 $ limit too! Mastercard World Card. My credit score was about 750+ at the time. I had just gotten a new job too after getting out of the army and everything was looking great! Well I had an accident at work where a careless co-worker released the block-and-tackle from a crane without paying attention to what he was doing. At the time I didn't know it but I had a compression fracture on my neck in a few places. (That's a broken neck for those who don't know.) I inevitably lost my job and was stuck with a credit card I couldn't pay off. That is one example of how quickly you can be screwed over and stuck with debt. If you have a credit card solely to increase your credit score than your ignorance is clear. I suggest cutting it up and reading the links I posted.

At this point, you should realize that she's probably got it under control.

Oh I am sure she does. It won't stop me from voicing my concern to my friends Ray.

Negative. They will credit check you on phones, utilities etc.

How much do you have charged to your cards?
