Any new guides on buying TVs ( I assume the one on the first page is probably outdated?)  or any tips / recommendations / suggestions in general?

~$1,000 budget

Well.. living in Central America so I can't really order one.. Went to the five or six places that have TVs (that doesn't require a 14 hour round-trip drive)

Here are the only TVs that were within my budget and were over 40" long -

$900 -
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN60FH6003-60-Inch-1080p-120Hz/dp/B00EE0Y7WY

$800 -
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN55EH6030-55-Inch-1080p-120Hz/dp/B0083KGX8M

$1,050 -
http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-55LN5700-55-Inch-LED-LCD/dp/B00BB9OPUA

$740 -
http://www.amazon.com/Philips-50PFL3908-F7-50-Inch-1080p/dp/B00BIF6ZYQ

Any input appreciated,

Thanks.

linear ac adapters produce cleaner power at the expense of efficientcy and causes less problems with audio equiptment

switching is effieicnt but may cause noise and static

but i guess if you havnt noticed then it must not be that big a deal?

Only noise i've noticed, Is when something that draws a bit of power gets turned on/off on the same breaker my room is on. Weird part is it disconnects the dac from my PC when it happens & reconnects almost instantly. Pain in the ass when you have to re-start a game 'cuz sound got messed up.

Lmk if you find/buy a linear adapter. Probably pick one up too. Had no idea there were different types.

Also remember it takes ac, not dc.

How did you like the picture on those? As thats the most important thing with your tv. I myself have had 2 Samsung tv now and they had best picture in my comparison for the price range. Havent seen those models myself but would guess they should be close to same as in other models in same price range. Get plasma if you dont have many windows in room or you can easily control the light coming from them, if not go with led.

I recall someone in this section having a pair, however, you can find an excess amount of reviews on Head-Fi (Or pretty much anywhere on the internet).
